1. Plant a tree
Planting a tree is a great way to meet friends and a great way to save the earth's oxygen! Contact Friends of the Urban Forrest, they help neighbors organize tree plantings by obtaining permits, removing sidewalk concrete, supply tools and materials and selects, purchases and delivers the trees.

2. Use both sides of paper
Get all you can out of each piece of paper, use both sides when writing or copying. If everyone did this all the time we’d drastically reduce the amount of paper used. Having a few pieces of scrap paper around is a good way to keep yourself from wasting fresh sheets.

3. Turn off the tube
Turn off the TV when no one is watching it. The same goes for computers, radios and stereos - if no one using it, turn it off. Don't leave lights on when no one is in the room or if you are going to be gone for than five minutes. Where possible, use compact fluorescent light bulbs. They last longer and use a quarter of the electricity.

4. Recycle your clothes
Making sure your clothes are being used to their full potential, and the ones that you are not wearing back into circulation. Give them a way, donate them or resell them. Damaged or worn clothes can be sent to textile recycling businesses, better them than in a landfill right!

5. Carpool
Help reduce air pollution and stop climate change by reducing the number of cars on the road. Take a bus, train, and ferry or catch a lift with school friends’ parents. Better yet, walk or ride a bike!
