2223 is a treasured neighborhood restaurant that serves lively cocktails and updated American comfort food that utilizes hormone and antibiotic-free meat; from ranchers and purveyors who use sustainable farming and harvesting methods, and organic and seasonal produce. It’s an ideal spot for romance, a quick bite or a cocktail with friends at the bar.
Melinda Randolph, the original chef and current owner, oversees every aspect of the restaurant, from flowers to music to the menu. " It's like throwing a lot of dinner parties in your home: everything has to be just right, and of course the food has to be outstanding."
Since it’s opening in 1995, 2223 has stood out from a sea of average Upper Market eateries with its versatile wine list, and stylish décor and forward thinking menu including an always on the menu vegetarian main course. Presently it’s the Willey Farms Eggplant Parmesan made with herb ricotta, provolone, mozzarella, mushroom duxelle and broccoli rabe.
2223 serves excellent appetizers, like their crispy calamari accompanied by a herb salad and the Thai chicken spring rolls served with a cucumber and pea sprout salad with a chile-mint dressing. The entrée of note is the herb roaster Fulton Valley chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, fried onion rings and natural jus.
