Green Dining in Hayes Valley
Jardiniere Gets a Bottom Lift
Aug 20 | archive | subscribe
Jardiniere, a sustainable, organic and socially responsible business that serves French Californian cuisine in Hayes Valley, will close for an overhaul that includes turning the downstairs dining room into the J Lounge.
The new walk-ins only lounge will double its seating capacity by adding more cocktail tables, banquettes and sofas, and will offer quicker bites, and snappier cocktails. The bar, with its closeness to the theaters, is an excellent place to have a small bite or a drink before or after a show.
The business has been honored for its commitment to being a green business with an aggressive recycling and composting program, and providing a variety of innovative benefits such as paying its non-tipped employees the San Francisco Living Wage.
Jardiniere recycles or composts nearly 85% of its waste, uses cleaning products that are earth friendly, and their menu paper is printed on recycled old money. They are committed to local farmers, fishers and ranchers who use sustainable practices in growing, raising and harvesting their products and are particularly committed to working with local fisherman to keep the oceans healthy and the small fishermen viable.
Jardiniere reopens on its 10th anniversay, September 13. jardinière.com
