Located in the new Westfield Centre Mall on Market Street as well as inside the Ferry Plaza, Out The Door has a lot of its predecessor’s qualities; fresh, organic ingredients, Asian flair and great service. The best part, if you don't mind eating in a mall, is that there is no line and the prices are fair.

Out The Door comes from Slanted Door restaurant’s Executive Chef Charles Phan’s. The nationally acclaimed Vietnamese chef has long been known for using top-quality ingredients—organic whenever possible—including sustainable fish, poultry and meat. And if that’s not enough, his food has been lauded as the pinnacle of Asian cuisine.

This place was much more casual than the Slanted Door and the prices are quite reasonable, with a take out counter, a food retail shop and a restaurant all in one. The dining room boasts a sleekly luxurious look that helps to bring in crowds of loyal patrons. The menu ranges from Vietnamese street food to complex meat and seafood entrees.

A variety of spring rolls, salads, noodle soups (pho), and rice and noodle items topped with lemongrass pork, chicken curry, or five-spice chicken are always available, as well as banh mi sandwiches, coffee, a selection of high-quality teas and a small but well-chosen wine list, and desserts such as Vietnamese flan and Meyer lemon cheesecake. and the dining room boasts a sleekly luxurious look that helps to bring in crowds of loyal patrons.

Given that dining interest in the Westfield Centre and Ferry Plaza branches of Out the Door has gone through the roof, it’s no surprise that owners plan to open a third branch of the casual eat-in/take-out Vietnamese cafe and wine bar later this year in Pacific Heights at 2232 Bush Street.
