On Friday, October 5, 2007 over 500-sophisticated art patrons and buyers are expected to attend the 11th Annual Art for AIDS at Bonhams & Butterfields, the host sponsor of the annual event. Over 125 modern and contemporary art pieces will be for sale during an evening of silent and live auctions catered by San Francisco’s finest purveyors of food and drink.

Art for AIDS is San Francisco’s premier art event benefiting one of the nation’s leading AIDS service organizations, the UCSF AIDS Health Project. Art for AIDS is held at Bonhams & Butterlfields, and is a juried live and silent auction. The event connects the art world, a community deeply aware of the epidemic’s toll, with one of the nation’s leading AIDS prevention and care organizations and brings together a creative community of artists, galleries, art donors and art patrons, sponsors and media.

The UCSF AIDS Health Project provides culturally sensitive counseling and education to stop the spread of HIV, and to help people face the emotional, psychological and social challenges of living with HIV and AIDS. AHP services, which assist more than 10,000 people each year, include: prevention and health education programs, including HIV counseling and testing
support groups for individuals with — or at risk for — HIV/AIDS, substance abuse services, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring, training and continuing education for healthcare professionals and publications on the psychosocial aspects of HIV-related care

One of the ways AHP assists their client is by hosting social events just like Art for AIDS. Many clients need to overcome intense social isolation, or a lifetime of risky habits and behaviors. AHP social events provide the safe space clients need to implement new norms that can safeguard their health. A night out with AHP isn’t just a night out. Much like Art for AIDS, the event that supports these services. artforaids.org
