The two-time Oscar-winning star fronts this year’s Pantene Beautiful Lengths drive - which encourages people to grow their hair, cut it off and then donate it to create wigs for women who've lost their hair through cancer. Swank will have her locks chopped off on the Oprah Winfrey Show later this month so she can donate it to a cancer sufferer as part of the campaign.

She says, "I have lost multiple family members to cancer and witnessed their struggle first hand. I've never heard of anything quite like Pantene Beautiful Lengths, and I'm proud to be asked to promote the goals of such a unique and heartfelt program."

The charity push aims to encourage women and men to cut and donate their hair for wigs to aid cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Swank told USA Today that she’s been growing her hair out for months. "So it's super long and super healthy. All the better for a woman in need."

"One in three women will get cancer in her lifetime, and 58 percent of women say that they fear hair loss more than any other side effect of cancer," said Amanda Hill, brand manager, Pantene.

Last July, award-winning actress Diane Lane, appeared on NBC's Today Show and had her hair cut off on live television. It was the official launch of the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign. At the same time, 50 women volunteers across the country had eight inches of their hair cut in a hair donation that will go to making no-cost wigs for women who have lost their hair during chemotherapy cancer treatment. beautifullengths.com
