The Ninth Annual Target World Challenge
benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation, which has helped more than 10 million young people since 1996. The Challenge is a 72-hole, stroke-play event that features one of the most elite fields on the PGA TOUR which happens on December 10, 2007
The Tiger Woods Foundation (TWF) was established in 1996 by Tiger Woods and his father Earl to empower young people to reach their highest potential. Tiger and Earl started the Foundation based on the belief that we all have the responsibility to help young people achieve their dreams.
“I’ve had the opportunity to meet thousands of children across the country, and all of them share one common bond: they all dream about their futures.” Says Tiger Woods.
From early childhood Wood has dreamed of being the world’s best golfer and values he says he learned at home and in school pushed him further toward his dream. Now he’s instilling those values into American youth though grants given by his nonprofit and The Tiger Woods Learning Center.
The center provides interactive enrichment programs to promote career exploration and preparation in areas such as forensic science, engineering, aerospace, video production and home design. The educational facility takes young people beyond their normal classroom experience through a unique after-school curriculum rooted in science, math and technology.
TWF grants focus on providing opportunities to underserved youth, ages 5-17 in urban American cities. The average grant range is between $2,500 and $25,000. Areas of funding include education programs, youth development year-round mentoring and/or tutoring programs and Geographic Focus
“I believe in passing on the values I received from my parents and teachers.” Woods says and then adds. “Through personal enrichment programs, scholarships, direct grants, junior golf teams and the new Tiger Woods Learning Center, the Foundation is helping millions of children reach their dreams.”
